If you would be mature...

Phil 3:14-15  "I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.  Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you."

I used to struggle alot with condemnation when I was a new Christian, always feeling like I didn't measure up and that I could not really please this new Lord that I wanted to serve.  But when He illuminated this scripture to me, life took on a whole new meaning.  The simplicity of the Gospel was astounding!

I want to mainly focus on the second scripture...."as many as are mature", this tells us that if we want to walk in maturity then it is imperative that we have this mind.  So now the question is presented, 'What mind?'  Now we go to the first scripture, "I press toward the goal...of the upward call of God."  So if I would be mature in my walk with God, I must press on toward Him and Him alone.  Then the question comes up of 'How can I do that?  I am not perfect.  I don't always do things that please my Lord.  I'm not like other people.  Life is too hard...blah..blah...blah'  (sidebar: these are whispers from the enemy of our souls)  The most fantastic part of these scriptures is that He says "...if in ANYTHING I think otherwise, He will REVEAL this to you."  Isn't that great?  Simply put, He tells us to press in to know Him and if there's any attitude or action that keeps us from Him, HE WILL REVEAL IT TO US!!!  This is such a proclamation of trust.  Of course, I am expected to do my best, but He will faithfully show me how to walk with Him.  How simple is that?

Have a great day.......Pam
