Matthew 20:27-29
"And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave-just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and give His life a ransom for many."
Now as they went out of Jericho, a great multitude folowed Him.
For him that will receive it, this passage gives profound insight into leadership. Jesus is being followed by "a great multitude." and the reason why is found in the preceeding verses and the following ones. He is not preaching an insurrection against the current government or recruiting members for a new religious order. He is serving, speaking the truth in love and giving His life a ransom for many. In everything He was an example for us. He refused to be exulted as someone great even though He is God. I love the words to a song from my past.-"If you want to be great in God's kingdom -learn to be a servant of all.
