II Corin 10:5 "...bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ."
This was the first scripture the Lord revealed to me that I could use as a weapon. I was only a Christian a few months when I started to struggle with thoughts about my old life. I found myself slipping back into patterns that were destructive to this new Life I had chosen. I called out for help and this scripture stood out on the page. I quoted it out loud, silently, desperately and as an act of faith. I hid this scripture in my heart by quoting it two or three hundred times a day (this is true). During this time I learned to use God's Word as a shield as I was too inexperienced to use it as an attack weapon. As I quoted this scripture, I also ran from the temptation. In other words, I did not put my self in a postion that was too much for me. God gave me victory and I've been a Christian for almost 37 years. I've had to fight this same battle of the mind in other areas and have found that God's Word is always a powerful Force on my side. It is always available, no matter where or when. So I would encourage you to use the weapon God has provided, it is more powerful than we can imagine.
