We start lying very early in life. A child lies to hide the fact from their parents that what they're doing is wrong. But in just a few years, that child will learn to lie about vanity. They will lie because they care what people think and they lie to keep up a good image. Lying, very early on, becomes a habit for many. Anyone who lies is committing a serious offense in the sight of God. People who lie have little regard for God and His law. God desires our very make-up to be truthful. It's really not that hard to spot a liar, and since we can spot them out, it is very difficult to give any trust to them for their word is no good. As part of a liar’s nature, lying is so natural that it seems to be the normal thing to do. The biggest fear of any liar is that he will be found out. When you have no worry of being caught, you have a tremendous peace of mind, and this only comes from living the truth, as God intended. If we are careless with what we promise, we will soon become a liar, or at least gain a reputation for someone who cannot keep their word. So with this commandment, we must always mean what we say. Keep your word, and with the intent to keep your word you will have little ability to lie or bear false witness against your neighbor.

Duet. 5:21
"You shall not covet your neighbors wife. You shall not set your desire on your neighbor’s house or land, his master servant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor."
When thinking about this commandment it makes me think about how many times a day I think about all the things that I want or need. I need a new car and I need it now. I want to buy a house, but I don’t want to wait several years to get it. I live in America why shouldn’t I have it now? My friends have houses and new cars so that means I deserve all those things! Right? Wrong!! God is the only one who deserves anything and sometimes his timing and plans are different then ours and just because we don’t have everything we think we need doesn’t mean that God has not or will not provide for us. He has made it very clear that you are not to covet which means to want things that are out of reach. We must not allow our thoughts to determine how we react when we want something that we cannot afford. Thousands of people are in debt today because they allow there desires to dictate there life styles. People get so caught up in "keeping up with the Jones" when they should be willing to wait and let God provide the things that they desire. Everyone has coveted at one time or another, that’s why we have God to help us govern our thoughts and also these commandments to remind us what we should and should not do.
