The Blessing of Obedience

Leviticus 26:3 &11 – 12
If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands … I will put my dwelling place among you…. I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be my people.

John 15:10
If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love …

Adam and Eve walked with God in the garden daily; they knew he was coming by the sound of His presence.  Enoch is mentioned twice as walking with God.  What does it mean to “walk with God”?  It has something to do with abiding with Him every moment.
The problem is I am selfish and willful.  My ways aren’t His.  I don’t easily obey in habitual areas of sin and personal comfort.  Yet obedience to the Lord results in dwelling with Him.  Psalm 27:4 prays “that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life.”  How wonderful to know that God is willing to answer that prayer with a resounding, “YES!”
