Genesis 6:5-7
God saw that human evil was out of control. People thought evil, imagined evil—evil, evil, evil from morning to night. was sorry that he had made the human race in the first place; it broke his heart. God said,I'll get rid of my ruined creation, make a clean sweep: people, animals, snakes and bugs, birds—the works. I'm sorry I made them."
Genesis 10:32
This is the family tree of the sons of Noah as they developed into nations. From them nations developed all across the Earth after the flood.
I’m taking an Asian art history class to keep my teaching certificate current. The textbook we are using begins with the earliest settlements found in the Indus Valley, in modern Pakistan and western India. It then explains how the Indus Valley civilization affected China.
Chinese is one of the oldest written languages. The Chinese character for righteousness is a lamb on an altar, and another character, for ship, I think, has eight people on it, just like Noah’s ark. Even so, as I have been reading about Asian history, I have been greatly distressed by the realization that though Noah’s sons had first-hand account of God’s greatness and character, their children’s children did not. Instead, earliest excavations reveal Shamanism, fertility rites, and fixation with death. Seeing the depravity of Noah’s descendents, I am reminded of Psalm 14:3 -- All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.
I am grateful for God’s mercy and pursuit. Thank you, Father, that you care enough to forgive and give us a second chance. I understand we are depraved. Please forgive us for failing to teach the generations behind us about your greatness and character. Please forgive Noah’s sons. Lord, have mercy on Asia.
