Luke 31:24-25
He (Jesus) said to them, 24"Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to. 25Once the owner of the house gets up and closes the door, you will stand outside knocking and pleading, 'Sir, open the door for us.' "But he will answer, 'I don't know you or where you come from.'
I remember reading these scriptures and others with this same warning in the New Testament as a teen; I was so anxious to understand what it meant to be a Christian, but never clear on whether I was really “saved” or not. The message is clear that not everyone who believes they know the Lord will go to heaven. I had a heated discussion with my grandpa a couple weeks ago about this concept also, the message was alarming him, he said – “I feel like asking the people around me if they know if they are going to heaven – why aren’t we talking more about this in our churches?”
And the message is sharp – heaven or hell is the eternal destiny of every person.
I don’t personally struggle with doubt anymore, I know Jesus is not only my Savior but also my Master, I am His.
How critical this truth is to a world seeking for Truth, seeking for Meaning, seeking for the very thing that is in front of them?
