Job 42:3-5 Surely I spoke of things I did not understand. things too wonderful for me to know. You said , "Listen now, and I will speak; I will question you, and you will answer me." My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you.
I am amazed to read Job's statement at the end of his epic trial and suffering, that before he had only "heard" of God. Job is described in the first verse of this book as a man who was blameless and upright, fearing God and shunning evil. Yet he had only heard of God. After God allows the devil to have his way tormenting Job a wonderful thing happens. His journey of suffering, loss and confusion brings about a revelation of God that was far greater and more personal than Job had known before. "Now my eyes have seen you." Job declares. And even though he faltered and stumbled, complaining, questioning God's wisdom and cursing the day he was born, grace covered him. God in his kindness rebuked and blessed him with an abundance that exceeded his former state. IF we will but hold on, by God's wonderful grace, when the going gets rough and things don't make any sense, blessing is on the wy. God can be trusted. He must be trusted!
